One of my first projects at Kroger revolved around the new DIP apparel line. I was tasked with creating a full model depicting what the DIP layout could look like when complete. At that point in time I had little experience in SketchUp so DIP became my starting point and really allowed me to grow and perfect my skills.

This project in particular became one of my favorites because I got to work on the whole process from start to finish. From building up the furnishings to adding in the final graphical elements, I truly became immersed in it all. Therefore, when the project was complete it made me that more appreciative of all the work that had gone into it.

The first step of the DIP process focused on creating the clothing fixtures from the ground up. I was given a packet of Jackman fixtures provided with dimensions, materials, and use. From there, I began modeling the fixtures in SketchUp. After modeling the basic structure I further enhanced the pieces by adding materials and specific detailing.

Along with the fixtures came the need to design other aspects of the space, such as the seating for the dressing rooms. My team members still wanted to speak to the bright green DIP color so I took some chair options into Photoshop and give them some options.

DIP RENDERINGS

The renderings above depict the final DIP department. Included with graphics and signage, the renderings serve as a great visual as to what DIP could look like. Each department captures the energy and enthusiasm of the brand and serves to show it could enhance the shopper experience. Since this was a new avenue for Kroger, DIP became not only a challenge but an opportunity.
